Wear Your Shades Day 2025

Petworld is proud to once again partner with the South African Guide-Dogs Association in support of their third annual Wear Your Shades Day, taking place nationwide on Friday, 17 October 2025.

This initiative celebrates World Sight Month by raising awareness about eye health, preventing vision loss, and showing solidarity with people living with visual impairments. By simply purchasing a R20 sticker and wearing your favourite sunglasses, you’re helping to create a more inclusive society where everyone can experience freedom and independence.

How to Get Involved

• Buy a Sticker: Purchase your sticker for just R20.

  • Online: www.guidedog.org.za

  • By Phone: Order directly from the Johannesburg or Cape Town offices.

  • In Stores: Stickers are available at participating retailers including Pick n Pay (selected stores), Spar (selected stores), Petworld, Falco Milano, Big Blue, and BUCO Hardware.

• Wear Your Shades: On 17 October 2025, put on your coolest sunglasses and sticker to show your support.

• Share the Movement: Post your photos on social media, tag @sa_guide_dogs, and use #shadesday for a chance to win prizes.

Why It Matters

Globally, 2.2 billion people live with vision impairment, and at least 1 billion cases could have been prevented through measures such as regular eye care and UV protection. Funds raised go directly toward the breeding, training, and placement of Assistance Dogs for people who are visually impaired, living with physical disabilities, or children on the autism spectrum, as well as providing essential Orientation and Mobility services.
