For many pets in welfare care, township communities, rural farms and overcrowded rescue networks, the cold is not just uncomfortable. It is dangerous. It settles into concrete floors, creeps into kennels, cuts through thin coats, and makes already vulnerable animals fight even harder for comfort, safety and survival.
That is why Petworld is proud to announce the Winter Welfare Blanket Donation — a bold, heartfelt initiative to help keep rescue pets warm when they need it most.
This winter, Petworld is donating 500 free blankets to five incredible welfare partners: Happy Tails Langa, Cape Town Paws, Mdzananda Animal Clinic, Farm Paws and ROAR for Paws. Each organisation will receive 100 blankets to support the animals in their care.
No promo. No catch. No strings attached. Just warmth, where it is needed most.
Mdzananda Animal Clinic: A Beacon of Hope in Khayelitsha
In Khayelitsha, Mdzananda Animal Clinic has become far more than a veterinary service. It is a lifeline for animals and families who might otherwise have nowhere to turn. What began with Mr Joe, a compassionate community member caring for pets with little more than a trolley, water bucket and deep love for animals, has grown into one of Cape Town’s most trusted township animal welfare organisations.
Today, Mdzananda provides vital veterinary care, rescue services, sterilisation, education, adoptions and community outreach. Their work is rooted in the belief that animal welfare and human welfare are connected. When pets are healthier, families are supported. When children learn compassion, communities become kinder.
Their shelter capacity is limited, but their impact is enormous. Every blanket donated to Mdzananda is more than fabric. It is comfort for a recovering dog, warmth for a frightened cat, and dignity for an animal waiting for a second chance.

Happy Tails Langa: Where Compassion Lives and Hope Never Tires
Happy Tails Langa began with one injured dog, nine puppies, and a child named Emihle who had been quietly feeding animals with whatever scraps he could spare. When Katja discovered the heartbreaking reality of dogs struggling in Langa, she did not look away. She returned with food, help and determination — and from that moment, Happy Tails Langa was born.
What started as one act of compassion has become a growing movement of rescue, sterilisation, education, kennel building, vet care and adoption support. Happy Tails Langa became a registered NPO in 2024, giving the organisation a stronger platform to continue its mission.
This is grassroots welfare at its most powerful: one person, one community, one animal at a time. The 100 blankets donated to Happy Tails Langa will help bring warmth to dogs and cats who have known neglect, cold nights and uncertainty and remind them that they have not been forgotten.

Cape Town Paws: Rescuing the Unseen, Saving the Forgotten
Cape Town Paws began with a box of abandoned kittens and a young girl who refused to accept that suffering should be ignored. Kate was just a child when she started fostering animals. By 14, she had founded Cape Town Paws. Today, alongside Belinda and Vee, she helps drive a small but mighty organisation working across vulnerable Cape Town communities.
Cape Town Paws focuses on rescue, sterilisation, medical care, education and adoption. Their team sees the hard side of welfare: abandoned puppies, sick cats, tethered dogs, animals who have lost trust in people. But they also see the miracle that happens when a frightened animal finally feels safe.
Their sterilisation work is especially powerful, helping prevent unwanted litters before suffering begins. For Cape Town Paws, every rescue matters — and every blanket helps create a softer landing for an animal who has already endured too much.

ROAR for Paws: Rural Outreach and Relief for Farm Pets
In rural areas, animal suffering is often hidden. Dogs and cats on farms can go unseen, untreated and unsupported. ROAR for Paws exists for those animals — the ones far from the spotlight, but never far from need.
ROAR stands for Rural Outreach and Relief for Paws, and their mission is fierce: end the cycle of suffering through sterilisation, food support, parasite treatment, education and emergency care. Their work in rural farm communities is practical, emotional and relentless. They distribute food, administer tick and flea treatments, deworm animals, educate owners and monitor animals in difficult environments.
For ROAR, sterilisation is central because it prevents future suffering before it begins. A blanket donation may seem simple, but for a rural dog sleeping outside or a cat recovering after care, warmth can be lifesaving.

Farm Paws: Caring for Pets in Farming Communities
Farm Paws works in the Raithby, Stellenbosch and Somerset West farming communities, supporting underprivileged dogs and cats whose owners often have limited access to veterinary care and essential pet supplies. Their mission focuses on sterilisation, general health, responsible pet care education and practical assistance for rural families.
Farm Paws transports pets to and from animal hospitals for sterilisations, vaccinations and emergency treatment. They also provide deworming, tick treatment and weatherproof kennels where possible. Their work reaches both animals and the people who love them, often in low-income communities where families are doing their best with very little.
The 100 blankets donated to Farm Paws will support animals who live close to the elements, where winter can be harsh and comfort is not guaranteed.

500 Blankets. 5 Welfare Partners. One Winter Mission.
On 23 and 24 May 2026, Petworld will begin handing over these blankets to our welfare partners as part of our Winter Welfare Blanket Donation.
This is not just a donation. It is a thank you to the welfare teams who carry heartbreak and hope in equal measure. It is a tribute to the rescuers, foster homes, vets, volunteers, drivers, feeders, fundraisers and everyday heroes who show up for animals again and again.
Most of all, it is a promise to the pets waiting in kennels, clinics, foster homes and rescue spaces across our communities:
You matter. You are seen. You deserve warmth.
