Non-profit organisation, ROAR For Paws, says that through the collective efforts and generosity of animal welfare partners, including Petworld, the team has been able to make an impact in helping “forgotten furry souls” around local rural areas.

Chairperson of Rural Outreach And Relief (ROAR) for Paws, Louise Schoeman, says the organisation relies on the support of passionate volunteers and support networks with the goal of improving the lives and futures of the “furkids”.

“Petworld has provided tremendous support over the years including donations and allowing ROAR for PAWS to use their venue for adoption events. They have enabled us to continue with maintenance programs in the rural communities to care for the cats and dogs,” she said.

ROAR For Paws is one of Petworld’s five animal welfare partners including, K9 & Bridgers Rescue, TOP- The Outreach Program, Oscars Arc, and A New Hope Dog Rescue.

Petworld has helped find forever homes for over 2 500 pets and has donated over R25 000 to their various animal welfare partners.

Schoeman says ROAR For Paws aims to educate pet owners in rural and disadvantaged communities on how to care for their animals with the correct nutrition, training, and handling.

Currently, the organisation focuses on reaching communities in the Wellington, Paarl, and Cape Town Northern Suburbs areas.

“To us, all souls matter and sterilisation is the key to a better future. We strive to ensure no more litters, no more hunger, no more illness without medical assistance, and improved living conditions with maintenance and feeding programs for those community furkids under our wings,” she said.

Adoption is at the heart of the organisation and through Petworld’s adoption days many animals have been adopted into happy families.

“Adopting is the most effective way to break the cruel puppy factory supply chain, and by offering your heart and home to a rescued animal, you'll not only be enriching your life, but saving theirs!” said Schoeman.
